I was born in Rijswijk, but raised in Schagen where I completed my preliminary education before I moved to Leiden where I got a Master Degree in Japanese Studies from Leiden University in March 1994.

After my graduation I spent two years in total in Japan doing research on the integration of computer technology in Japanese Language Education. Since my return to the Netherlands I make a living as an IT-specialist at Leiden University.
