On the left my mother Yukiko Murakami at the age of three. She was born in Osaka, but grew up in Fukuoka. She studied the piano in Fukuoka but eventually became a free-lance bassoon player after studying in Tokyo and The Hague. Besides music she loves cooking and eating.

On the right side my father Oscar Veltink. He was born in Rijswijk near The Hague but grew up in Schagen. He studied Japanese Studies in Leiden. After that he spent some time in Japan, but did not meet my mother until he had returned to Holland. He became a courseware developer at Leiden University.
